Switchboard Operator (US Navy Program)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a professional Switchboard Operator to support a critical US Navy program located on Diego Garcia. The role involves managing all telephone communications, ensuring calls are routed efficiently, and providing accurate information to callers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and manage a telephone switchboard, answering, screening, and directing incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls.
• Log and track calls as needed, providing status updates to relevant personnel.
• Assist with emergency communications and prioritize urgent calls according to escalation protocols.
• Maintain and regularly update the directory database for accurate call routing.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information securely.
• Follow operational procedures for equipment usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience operating a switchboard or in a customer‑service role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Strong problem‑solving, multitasking, and composure under pressure.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to pass contract medical requirements.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with telecommunication equipment.
• Familiarity with office‑related technology.
• Understanding of telecommunications troubleshooting and phone system maintenance.
