Bartender - Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Bartender to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Bartender supports MWR operations by providing professional beverage service, keeping the bar clean and safe, and delivering good customer service. The post prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, handles customer transactions, complies with alcohol service regulations and supports recreational activities and events.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to recipe and standards, including beer, wine and mixed drinks
• Verify patron age and ID, monitor alcohol consumption and act to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and impaired driving
• Provide courteous service, describe menu items and serve food where applicable
• Prepare garnishes, keep the bar organised and fully stocked, and maintain inventory levels
• Operate POS systems and cash registers, process payments and reconcile cash
• Clean and sanitise equipment, glassware, utensils and work areas
• Support MWR programmes, special events and recreational activities

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 2 years of experience in bartending, hospitality, recreation or customer service
• Age 21 or older to serve alcohol, and a valid passport valid at least 1 year at hiring
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas and pass contract medical requirements
• English reading, speaking and comprehension sufficient for the contract
• Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment; physical demands include lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
• Preferred: prior austere OCONUS experience, previous MWR or military recreation experience, CPR and First Aid certification, and a valid driver's licence
