Island Room Manager - Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Island Room Manager to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The role manages the daily operations of the Island Room, including food service, beverage operations, recreation and entertainment activities, ensuring exceptional customer service and seamless execution. The position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, a remote overseas location.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee operational processes and standards, and supervise staff for food, beverage and entertainment operations.
• Plan and run recreational events and activities, and keep the venue welcoming, organized and safe.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental guidelines for food and beverage service.
• Monitor food and beverage costs, manage budgets and maintain an efficient scheduling system.
• Coordinate with vendors for supplies and liaise with government representatives and stakeholders.
• Analyze customer feedback, handle emergencies on site within one hour, and keep accurate records and reports.

Required profile

• A four-year degree in business administration, food and beverage management, hospitality or a related field, or equivalent experience; plus at least five years as a middle manager in a similar civilian commercial business.
• Valid passport (valid at least one year at hire) and ability to obtain country-specific visas and pass contract medical requirements.
• Ability to read, speak and comprehend English and to obtain and maintain facility credentials.
• Preferred: prior experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce, a country driver's licence, and previous military or government facility dining and entertainment experience.
