Shipping and Receiving Clerk

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The role covers a variety of warehousing duties, including an understanding of the facility storage plan, shipping procedures, personal computer operation and the safe use of warehouse equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Verify all items received and shipped to or from the warehouse.
• Remove material from storage, prepare it for shipment and report discrepancies and obvious damage.
• Check the accuracy of the daily receiving report and shipping log.
• Store, stack or palletize materials in preparation for storage or shipment.
• Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory.
• File paperwork according to documented procedures and maintain related records.
• Reroute incoming items within the company as directed and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport, valid for at least one year at hire, and ability to travel internationally; country visa as required by the US Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and hold facility credentials.
• Ability to speak, read and comprehend English.
• Preferred: previous shipping/receiving or warehouse experience, and experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.

Required skills

• Familiarity with proper packaging methods and interpretation of packaging visual aids.
• Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
• Valid country driver's license (preferred).

The position is on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, a remote overseas location supporting US Government operations. Work may involve office, warehouse, port, airfield and outdoor settings, with possible evening, weekend and holiday shifts, and physical demands such as lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
