Harbor Port Pilot - Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum, a global provider of engineering, technical and professional services to the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Harbor Pilot to support a government contract on the island of Diego Garcia. The pilot provides navigation assistance, vessel positioning and daily harbor scheduling, and ensures compliance with international, USG, PWS and program requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support harbor piloting services: navigation assistance, proper vessel positioning, daily Harbor Schedule prepared with the Port Officer, and support of ship movements and docking operations
• Develop, implement and monitor harbor activities, strategies, policies and programs to ensure compliance and successful operation
• Ensure compliance with permits, regulatory standards and management practices such as records keeping, reports, training, inspections and data reporting
• Meet with Government personnel and program leadership 24/7 when urgent needs arise
• Other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in job-related responsibilities on a government contract or at a military installation
• First Class Unlimited Pilot License for the port obtained through the USCG under 46 CFR Part 10.07 or NEC 0215, with an exemplary record as a Navy Pilot
• Three years' experience in a leadership role in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce highly desired
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government clearance; US citizenship is required for a Secret clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license during employment
• Pass PACOM medical requirements and maintain them for the duration of deployment
• Physical ability to stand 8-10 hours, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and work in remote, exposed conditions
