Librarian for Military MWR Program

About the role

Amentum is looking for a dedicated Librarian to manage the library facility supporting the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures high‑quality informational, educational, and recreational resources for military personnel and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily library operations, maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
• Assist patrons with research, resource location, and use of library equipment.
• Catalog, organize, and preserve collection materials following library science standards.
• Monitor inventory and update the resource catalog regularly.
• Develop and promote programs, workshops, and events that support literacy and cultural activities.
• Train and mentor support staff and volunteers.
• Maintain transaction records, including check‑outs, memberships, and overdue items.
• Implement new library technologies to enhance services.
• Enforce library policies to ensure a respectful patron environment.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in Library Science or related field, OR two years experience in a military, school, or public library.
• Familiarity with cataloging systems, digital resource management, and library organization principles.
• Strong communication and customer‑service abilities.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to meet contract medical requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
