About the role
Amentum is seeking a Ship Load Planner to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will develop and execute cargo stowage plans, ensuring vessel stability, safety, and efficient loading/unloading operations.
Key responsibilities
- Create accurate cargo and container stowage plans using ship loading software.
- Coordinate with shipping agents, port authorities, stevedores, and logistics teams to meet timelines.
- Work with vessel captains and marine terminals to verify stability and seaworthiness.
- Analyze freight manifests, verify dimensions, weights, and special handling needs.
- Perform inspections to confirm adherence to load plans and safety standards.
- Provide real‑time adjustments when deviations occur during vessel operations.
- Prepare detailed reports on cargo handling, discrepancies, and feedback.
- Ensure compliance with local, governmental, and international shipping regulations.
Required profile
- 1–3 years of experience in ship load planning, maritime logistics, or related fields.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ship stowage planning software (e.g., CASP, MACS3).
- Strong knowledge of maritime loading principles and safety guidelines.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
