Swimming Instructor for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Swimming Instructor to operate, maintain, and teach in an 82‑by‑63‑by‑12‑foot pool supporting a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safety, compliance with Navy standards, and delivers high‑quality swimming instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the pool according to NAVMED P‑5010‑4, NAVSUPPFAC, and CNICINST 1710.3 guidelines.
• Monitor water quality, filtration, and equipment, coordinating repairs as needed.
• Plan and conduct swimming lessons for all ages and skill levels, emphasizing technique and water safety.
• Supervise swimmers, intervene in emergencies, and provide CPR/AED and first‑aid as required.
• Enforce Navy and local safety policies, ensuring a secure environment for patrons.
• Deliver excellent customer service, address inquiries, and assist with pool events such as competitions or training exercises.

Required profile

• Certified Swimming Instructor (American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Minimum 1 year experience in swimming instruction or lifeguard services.
• Understanding of pool operations, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements for the deployment period.
