Senior Power Plant Operator NPP

About the role

Amentum is looking for an experienced Senior Power Plant Operator to manage the North Power Plant (NPP) or South Power Plant (SPP) on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation while coordinating power delivery across both facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all shift activities at the assigned plant, enforcing safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate power demand and equipment status between NPP and SPP to maintain continuous service.
• Monitor and control generators, switchboards, fuel supply, air compressors, radiator fans, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct pre‑operation checks, routine inspections, and post‑operation reviews.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, operational data, and performance reports.
• Train and mentor shift personnel on operational and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with the Electrical Utility Manager and other supervisors on policy implementation and maintenance schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of power plant operations experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of generator sets, electrical switchboards, fuel systems, air compressors, radiator fans, and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience coordinating large‑scale power demands across multiple plants.
• Ability to act decisively during emergencies and ensure service continuity.
