Senior Power Plant Operator – North or South Plant

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Senior Power Plant Operator to manage the North or South Power Plant on Diego Garcia for a critical US Navy program. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable power generation while leading shift personnel and coordinating with the counterpart plant.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all plant operations during the assigned shift, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate power demand and equipment status between the North and South plants to maintain continuous supply.
• Monitor and control generators, electrical switchboards, fuel supply, air compressors, radiator fans, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct pre‑operation checks, routine inspections, and post‑operation reviews.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, load reports, and equipment performance records.
• Train and mentor shift crew on operational and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with the Electrical Utility Manager and other supervisors on policy implementation and maintenance scheduling.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of power plant operations experience, including supervisory or senior roles.
• Deep knowledge of generator sets, electrical switchboards, fuel systems, air compressors, radiator fans, and related auxiliary equipment.
• Experience coordinating large‑scale power demands across multiple plants in high‑demand environments.
