Safety Inspector

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Safety Inspector to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that complies with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a Safety Program aligned with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and monitoring to verify compliance with safety standards and site‑specific requirements.
• Prepare detailed Safety Inspection and Monitoring Reports documenting observations, findings, and corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, produce incident reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Review and update safety records for assets to ensure accurate documentation.
• Perform risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Monitor work sites to ensure proper use and functionality of safety equipment.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to site personnel on safety procedures.
• Maintain all safety‑related documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with leadership, supervisors, and contractors to align safety goals with operational objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety inspection, program implementation, or a related role, preferably in a government or military environment.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual and other applicable safety standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent; strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective action development.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
