Safety Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Safety Specialist to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that complies with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations and ensures incident‑free operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and rolling out a Safety Program that meets all applicable safety practices and regulations.
• Conduct site safety inspections and produce Safety and Monitoring Reports.
• Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records for assets, updating, adding, or deleting entries as needed.
• Monitor and support all safety‑related activities to prevent, mitigate, and control hazards.
• Perform risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
• Provide safety training and guidance to employees.
• Identify and apply best practices for accident prevention and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with management and stakeholders to align safety objectives with operational goals.
• Stay current on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety program implementation, workplace safety operations, and inspections.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual and other industry safety standards.
• Ability to prepare detailed safety reports and conduct incident investigations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to travel internationally.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout deployment.

Required skills

• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification
• Proficiency with safety reporting systems and digital safety platforms
