Fire Inspector

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Fire Inspector to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on ensuring fire safety compliance across facilities, protecting personnel and critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to detect, control, and eliminate fire hazards in designated facilities.
• Evaluate compliance with fire safety regulations, NFPA standards, and related codes.
• Document violations and prepare detailed corrective‑action recommendations.
• Review building layouts, construction plans, and fire‑protection systems for regulatory adherence.
• Provide fire‑ and life‑safety education as a Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I.
• Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
• Complete the NFPA 101 Life Safety Course within the first two years of employment.
• Support the Fire Marshal and leadership in risk analysis, fire‑prevention programs, and compliance initiatives.
• Respond to emergency situations and act as a subject‑matter expert on fire prevention.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as Fire Inspector I and II, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I, and Hazmat Awareness (to be obtained within 12 months).
• Minimum two years experience as a firefighter.
• Minimum two years experience as a fire inspector, including inspections, regulatory application, and violation reporting.
• Strong knowledge of fire‑safety regulations, codes, and NFPA standards.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain required facility credentials.
