Stationary Engineer (US Navy Program)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Stationary Engineer to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing stationary equipment such as boilers, chillers, generators, and HVAC systems to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines, boilers, chillers, generators, and HVAC systems.
• Monitor equipment performance, conduct daily readings, and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and part replacements on mechanical systems.
• Start, stop, regulate, and monitor power generation, chilled water, fuel, and steam systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot air handling units, cooling towers, and associated controls.
• Conduct inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local laws, and U.S. government/military regulations.
• Document equipment performance, maintenance activities, and repairs in logs and work orders.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing stationary engines and mechanical equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
• In‑depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for power generation and utility distribution.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems effectively.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and relevant government regulations.
• Proficiency with equipment logs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• English proficiency, valid passport (minimum 1 year), and ability to obtain required visas and pass medical requirements.
