HVAC Technician – Diego Garcia

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support Base Operations Support services at the Navy Support Facility in Diego Garcia. The role involves planning preventive maintenance and repairs for refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems across the base.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and repairs of chilled water and DX air‑conditioning plants (minimum 100 tons capacity).
• Provide technical instruction for installation, service, and repair of environmental‑control components, including pipefitting and ductwork.
• Monitor air handling and cooling units, record faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Inspect metal ductwork, liquid and vapor instruments, and maintain inventory of parts.
• Document project activities, prepare reports on violations, and ensure work follows approved plans and specifications.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in maintenance and repair of centralized HVAC systems, with 2‑3 years supervisory experience.
• Valid EPA Section 608 “Universal” certification or equivalent.
• High school or technical graduate; electrical or engineering background is a plus.
• Pass overseas medical screening and hold a valid professional driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Refrigeration theory and air‑conditioning servicing.
• Pipefitting and ductwork installation.
• Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Volume air distribution systems.
• Experience with Trane and/or Carrier BMS systems.
• Preventive maintenance procedures for chilled water and DX equipment.
