HVAC Technician – Diego Garcia Base Operations

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support Base Operations Support services at the Navy Support Facility in Diego Garcia. The role involves planning preventive maintenance and repairs for refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems across the base.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and repairs of chilled water and DX air‑conditioning plants (≥100 tons).
• Provide technical instruction on installation, service, and repair of environmental‑control components.
• Monitor air handling units, record faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Inspect metal ductwork, liquid and vapor instruments, and maintain inventory of parts.
• Document project activities, prepare reports on violations, and ensure work follows approved plans and specifications.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of HVAC maintenance experience, including 2‑3 years supervisory experience.
• High school or technical graduate; electrical or engineering background is a plus.
• Valid professional driver’s license and ability to pass overseas medical screening.
• Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking).

Required skills

• Refrigeration theory and air‑conditioning servicing.
• EPA Section 608 “Universal” certification (or equivalent).
• Pipefitting and metal ductwork installation.
• Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Volume air distribution systems.
• Experience with Trane and/or Carrier BMS systems.
