About the role

The Production Control Clerk / Service Writer provides essential logistical and administrative support for monitoring and managing military and civilian equipment on Diego Garcia. Working directly with the Production Control Supervisor and the Maintenance Manager, the role ensures accurate data entry, reporting, and equipment tracking.

Key responsibilities

  • Input, update and export information using GCSS‑Army or other approved logistics information systems.
  • Perform accurate data entry and generate reports on vehicles and equipment assigned to the program.
  • Create and maintain custom equipment‑tracking databases and spreadsheets.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to management, delivering timely reports.
  • Support the Continuous Improvement Process and quality‑assurance program.
  • Maintain maintenance records in historical jackets and the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Handle documentation for disposition, classification, controlled exchange and cannibalization.
  • Mentor and assist with on‑the‑job training and cross‑training of staff.
  • Comply with company policies, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of hands‑on experience in production control, including administration and dispatching duties.
  • Preferably trained in Military Occupation CMF 92A Production Control or an equivalent commercial program.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain a military operator’s permit for required vehicles.
  • Fluent in spoken, written and read English.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform tasks requiring finger dexterity, bending and reaching.
  • Willingness to work day, night, weekend or overtime shifts as needed.

Required skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience using GCSS‑Army or other approved logistics information systems.
  • Ability to read and apply technical manuals.
  • Competent with standard office equipment and computer applications.
