Grounds Crew Leader – Landscaping & Drainage

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Grounds Crew Leader to manage a team responsible for maintaining improved grounds, operational areas, and stormwater drainage systems on Diego Garcia. You will ensure that all areas meet appearance and operational standards while supporting a critical US Navy program.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a grounds crew in daily maintenance of landscaped areas, operational zones, and drainage systems.
• Develop and execute schedules for mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, and watering.
• Inspect stormwater drainage systems, clear debris, and address blockages or repairs.
• Respond to service orders promptly and ensure tasks meet contractual standards.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Monitor ground conditions, identify enhancements, and ensure compliance with appearance standards.
• Train crew members on equipment use, safety protocols, and seasonal maintenance tasks.
• Communicate work plans, progress, and service order status to project managers and government representatives.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, service orders, equipment usage, and team activity.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with landscaping techniques and equipment.
• Basic understanding of stormwater drainage system maintenance.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with safety standards for grounds maintenance and equipment operation.
