Grounds Laborer – Landscaping & Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Grounds Laborer to join Amentum’s team supporting a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining the island’s landscaped areas, operational zones and storm‑water drainage systems to a high standard of appearance and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, pruning, mulching, weeding, raking, planting, fertilising and watering.
• Clean and maintain storm‑water drainage systems, removing debris and blockages.
• Operate and service grounds‑keeping equipment including lawn mowers, weed trimmers, brush cutters and blowers.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, grass clippings, trash and other debris from all outdoor areas.
• Install, water, fertilise and protect plants, trees and shrubs as directed.
• Assist with irrigation‑system repairs and adjustments to ensure proper water distribution.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards or maintenance issues to the crew leader.
• Support storm‑cleanup and special projects as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, carry and stand for long periods in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and follow safety procedures.
• Valid passport with at least one year of remaining validity.
