Fire Protection Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Fire Protection Technician to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on fire prevention, safety, and protection activities to ensure a safe environment for personnel and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Know the locations of all fire alarms and activate them in emergencies.
• Handle and store combustible supplies, materials, waste, and trash to prevent fire hazards.
• Inspect storage areas and workspaces, identifying and mitigating fire risks.
• Follow all safety guidelines and fire‑prevention practices in compliance with regulations.
• Participate in fire‑safety training programs and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of standards.
• Collaborate with the Fire and Emergency Services Department to address potential hazards.
• Report safety violations, fire risks, or faulty equipment for immediate resolution.
• Assist with workplace safety initiatives to promote fire‑safety awareness.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fundamental knowledge of fire safety and prevention practices.
• Proven ability to identify fire‑safety risks and enforce best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.
• Preferred: experience in austere OCONUS environments, valid driver’s license, relevant visa, and prior fire‑safety or occupational health & safety experience.
