About the role
We are looking for a Boat Engineer to join Amentum’s US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves designing, constructing, and maintaining marine vessels and equipment in a challenging overseas environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research and testing to support marine vehicle design.
- Prepare technical reports, system diagnostics, and design analysis documentation.
- Present layout and engineering designs to clients and internal teams for feedback.
- Supervise structural, mechanical, and electrical design processes.
- Oversee construction of vessels and equipment, ensuring quality and integrity.
- Perform quality‑control inspections, install upgrades, and ensure safety compliance.
- Train and supervise engineering, design, mechanics, and construction staff.
- Maintain and repair marine vehicles, diagnose technical issues, and implement solutions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field.
- Minimum four years of experience as a marine engineer or equivalent.
- Valid passport (at least one year remaining) and ability to travel internationally.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
- USCG engineer license or PE certification preferred.
- Experience working in austere OCONUS environments with multinational teams.
