About the role
Amentum is seeking an Airlift Joint Inspector / Air Cargo Lead to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures cargo operations comply with DoD regulations and are executed safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Perform joint inspections of aircraft loads in accordance with DoD 4500.9R, Part III, Mobility, Appendix O.
- Verify cargo is movement‑ready, properly packaged, braced and restrained before loading.
- Prepare load plans with loadmasters, aircrews and deployment representatives.
- Assist with loading and unloading using material handling equipment and ground support tools.
- Document inspections, maintain records and produce required regulatory reports.
- Supervise and train air cargo team members, ensuring timely and accurate cargo preparation.
Required profile
- 3‑5 years experience in cargo operations, logistics or inspections in a military, government or industrial setting.
- Formal training and qualification as a Joint Inspector.
- Valid passport (minimum 1‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and meet deployment health standards.
Required skills
- Cargo inspection and compliance with DoD 4500.9R regulations.
- Joint Inspector certification.
- Operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Load planning and aircraft cargo handling procedures.
- Hazardous material (HAZMAT) handling guidelines.
