Machinery Maintenance Mechanic – Heavy Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves repairing and maintaining a fleet of automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment in a remote, challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Order parts and perform both preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Instruct other mechanics on inspection methods and review inspection reports.
• Analyze equipment safety and recommend design modifications.
• Conduct quality checks on work in progress and upon completion.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience in a mechanic role.
• Ability to work in remote, potentially hazardous conditions and adapt to short‑notice travel.
• Strong attention to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting.
• Preventative maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Use of various test equipment.
• Interpretation of repair manuals, schematics and diagnostic codes.
