Assistant Operator in Responsible Charge (AORC)

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Assistant Operator in Responsible Charge (AORC) to support a U.S. Navy water‑treatment program on Diego Garcia. The role involves assisting in the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a water‑treatment plant to ensure safe drinking water for the installation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in operating the water‑treatment plant to produce clean, safe drinking water.
• Monitor and control equipment processes, making adjustments to maintain quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment and machinery.
• Collect and analyze water samples to verify compliance with state and federal standards.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and test results.
• Respond to emergencies such as power outages or equipment failures to sustain water supply.
• Support laboratory testing for pH, chlorine levels, turbidity, and other water‑quality parameters.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical handling.

Required profile

• Current Level II Treatment and Level II Distribution operator certification.
• Valid operator’s certification maintained through required professional development.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
