Tailor – Clothing Alteration for US Navy Program

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Tailor to provide professional clothing alteration, repair and tailoring services for a US Navy program based on Diego Garcia. The role supports uniform and personal garment needs, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and customer satisfaction in a remote, secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform alterations such as resizing, hemming, mending, button replacement and other garment adjustments.
• Measure and fit garments accurately for clients, including military uniforms and specialty clothing.
• Repair and restore damaged or worn items, handling a variety of fabrics with appropriate techniques.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines, irons and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and keep records of completed work and inventory.
• Provide excellent customer service, offering tailoring advice and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and support the tailoring schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in clothing alteration, repair or tailoring.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and work for the duration of the deployment.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
