Recreation Services Coordinator

About the role

The Recreation Services Coordinator will support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia, overseeing resale operations and a wide range of morale, welfare and recreation (MWR) programs for military personnel and base residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Recreation Services Manager in planning, coordinating and administering all MWR programs and services.
• Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, maintain required certifications (CPR, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor) and oversee hazardous‑material procedures.
• Officiate sports events such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and flag football.
• Support resale operations, manage inventory, track supply chain and conduct efficiency analyses.
• Develop and market recreational activities to engage the military community and maintain high customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in recreation, sports management, business or related field, OR three years of military recreation experience.
• Minimum five years of specialized experience in a Non‑Appropriated Funds Instrumentality (NAFI) or similar middle‑management role.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining, ability to obtain required visas and pass contract medical requirements.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks in an austere OCONUS environment.

Required skills

• Current CPR certification.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor certification.
• Proficiency in officiating soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and flag football.
