Bartender - Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Bartender to support a US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Bartender supports MWR operations by providing professional beverage service, keeping the bar clean and safe, and delivering good customer service. The post prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, handles customer transactions, complies with alcohol service regulations and supports recreational activities and events.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to recipe and standards, including beer, wine and mixed drinks
• Verify patron age and ID, monitor alcohol consumption and act to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and impaired driving
• Provide courteous service, describe menu items and serve food where applicable
• Operate POS systems and cash registers, handle cash and credit cards and reconcile transactions
• Clean and sanitize equipment, glassware and work areas; keep inventory levels and alert management to shortages
• Support MWR programs, special events and recreational activities
• Follow safety, sanitation and quality procedures; work evenings, weekends and holidays, and in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield and outdoor settings

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 2 years of experience in bartending, hospitality, recreation or customer service
• Age 21 or older to serve alcohol, valid passport valid at least 1 year, and ability to obtain country-specific visas
• Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment and to pass contract medical requirements
• English reading, speaking and comprehension sufficient for the contract
• Preferred: prior austere OCONUS experience, previous MWR or military recreation experience, CPR and First Aid certification, and a valid driver's licence
