Material Management Specialist – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Material Management Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will oversee procurement, inventory, distribution, and tracking of materials to ensure operational readiness and compliance with safety and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage material inventory, monitor stock levels, and schedule restocking.
• Oversee procurement processes, including ordering, receiving, and issuing supplies.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of materials in line with safety guidelines.
• Verify material specifications, address quality issues, shortages, or damage.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit trails for compliance reporting.
• Coordinate with vendors to secure timely deliveries and resolve delays or back‑orders.
• Support development of procedures to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with operational teams to forecast needs and prioritize deliveries.
• Handle hazardous materials (HAZMAT) according to environmental and safety protocols.
• Generate inventory and usage reports for management review.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in material management, procurement, or inventory control.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with solid problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with inventory management systems.
• Experience using ERP or material tracking tools.
• Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and procurement processes.
• Familiarity with handling hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
