About the role
Amentum is seeking a Ground Cargo/Freight Supervisor to manage all freight and cargo operations for a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, compliant, and timely handling of cargo, including hazardous materials, across air, sea, and ground transport.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise cargo‑loading services, ensuring accurate, efficient loading and compliance with NAVSEA OP‑2239 and federal regulations.
- Oversee freight terminal operations, including preparation, consolidation, and shipment by air, sea, and ground.
- Manage a dedicated Freight Forwarding Office, coordinating receipt, storage, and shipment of materials.
- Conduct quality‑assurance inspections and ensure all safety, marking, and documentation requirements are met.
- Lead, train, and schedule a multinational team of freight and cargo personnel.
Required profile
- 4‑6 years of experience in cargo‑loading, freight terminal operations, or transportation services, with supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid passport (minimum 1‑year validity).
- Knowledge of military freight regulations, hazardous‑materials handling, and retrograde documentation (NAVSUP Publications 700 & 485).
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with transportation management or freight management software.
- Basic computing skills, including Microsoft Office.
