Air Cargo Packaging Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Air Cargo Packaging Specialist to support a critical U.S. Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing and securing cargo for air shipment in strict compliance with Navy and Department of Defense packaging standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect cargo and select appropriate packaging materials.
• Perform packing, crating, palletizing, and banding while meeting weight, balance, and safety requirements.
• Prepare and verify cargo documentation and coordinate with air cargo and logistics teams.
• Maintain packaging supplies, equipment, and a clean, organized work area.
• Follow hazardous‑material handling and packaging procedures when applicable.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in cargo packaging, freight preparation, logistics, or warehouse operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of packaging methods, material handling, and shipment preparation procedures.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety instructions.
• English proficiency sufficient for contract requirements and emergency procedures.
• Valid passport (minimum 1‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and medical clearance.
