Grounds Crew Leader – Landscaping & Stormwater Maintenance

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Grounds Crew Leader to manage a team responsible for maintaining improved grounds, operational areas, and stormwater drainage systems for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a grounds crew to ensure neat, functional, and visually appealing environments.
• Develop and implement schedules for routine maintenance such as mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, and watering.
• Inspect and maintain stormwater drainage systems, addressing debris, blockages, or repairs.
• Respond to service orders promptly and ensure tasks meet required standards.
• Operate landscaping equipment safely and efficiently, coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.
• Monitor ground conditions, identify enhancements or repairs, and ensure compliance with appearance standards.
• Train crew members on equipment use, safety protocols, and seasonal maintenance tasks.
• Communicate work plans, progress, and service order status to project managers and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, service orders, equipment usage, and team activity for contract compliance.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with landscaping techniques and equipment operation.
• Basic understanding of stormwater drainage system maintenance.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with safety standards related to grounds maintenance and equipment use.
• Ability to inspect, identify, and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
