Synchrolift Mechanic, Rigger & Diver

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Synchrolift Mechanic, Rigger & Diver to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves performing underwater inspections, maintenance, repairs, and recovery operations for marine and vessel assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct underwater inspections, surveys, and recovery operations on vessels, marine structures, and submerged assets.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute diving operations in line with safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform underwater repair, installation, salvage, and recovery tasks using hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
• Operate and monitor hyperbaric chambers, serving as tender during medical treatments and diving operations.
• Maintain and repair diving equipment, compressors, air systems, breathing apparatus, communication systems, and associated support gear.
• Install, repair, and maintain navigational buoys, moorings, anchors, and related marine infrastructure.
• Operate support vessels and small craft as authorized and trained.
• Complete dive logs, maintenance records, inspection reports, and other operational documentation.
• Participate in emergency response, rescue, and recovery operations as required.

Required profile

• Graduate of a U.S. certified commercial diving school.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of commercial diving experience (preferred).
• Ability to pass and maintain a diving physical examination.
• Compliance with OSHA Commercial Diving Regulations, U.S. Coast Guard requirements, and company safety policies.
