SATCOM Electronics Technician (Diego Garcia)

About the role

The SATCOM Electronics Technician will join Amentum’s team on Diego Garcia to install, configure, operate and maintain both fixed and tactical satellite communication terminals. The role involves hands‑on work, troubleshooting, and providing technical assistance and training to end‑users in a demanding, 24/7 environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set‑up, pack, configure, operate and maintain satellite terminals and associated assemblies.
• Install equipment according to manufacturer specifications, interpreting maintenance manuals, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Diagnose, isolate and repair malfunctions using standard test instruments and hand tools.
• Provide instruction to customers and co‑workers on equipment operation and configuration.
• Collaborate with engineering and unit personnel to resolve unusual system issues.
• Lead testing, tuning and adjustment of equipment to achieve optimal performance.
• Prepare reports, correspondence and technical studies as required.
• Maintain a safe work environment and perform general housekeeping duties.
• Provide on‑call support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of recent experience (within the last four years) in satellite communications facility operations.
• Two years of recent experience (within the last three years) in electronic theory, troubleshooting and organizational‑level maintenance of communications equipment.
• Familiarity with current global, U.S. program and PWS requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport, driver’s license, PACOM medical clearance and a Secret U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.

Required skills
