MWR Director – Diego Garcia (US Government Contract)

About the role

The MWR Director will lead the Moral Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program for a U.S. government contract on Diego Garcia. This senior position oversees all recreation, fitness, library, community support services and social events, ensuring compliance with the Performance Work Statement, U.S. government and international guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full spectrum of MWR services and facilities, including recreation, fitness, library and community events.
• Ensure strict adherence to the Performance Work Statement, program requirements and reporting standards.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, conduct inspections and deliver training as required.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call support for emergency or urgent MWR matters.
• Coordinate with multinational workforce and maintain facility credentials and authorizations.
• Oversee physical operations, including standing for long periods and handling supplies up to 50 lb.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, hospitality, food & beverage, business or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of senior‑level management experience in a similar MWR or hospitality environment, preferably as an NF‑5 of NAFI.
• At least three years of leadership experience in an austere OCONUS setting with a multinational team.
• CPR certification.
• U.S. citizenship with a valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to pass medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout deployment.
