Meteorological Technician for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Meteorological Technician to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting weather data to ensure mission readiness for engineering, aviation, and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, record, and analyze temperature, humidity, wind speed, atmospheric pressure, and precipitation data.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain weather monitoring instruments and automated observation systems.
• Prepare and disseminate routine and special weather reports in accordance with Navy and Amentum standards.
• Assist forecasting efforts by compiling observational data and identifying weather patterns.
• Monitor severe weather conditions and issue timely alerts to operational personnel.
• Maintain accurate logs, digital records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, aviation, and operational teams to ensure data accuracy.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in meteorology, atmospheric science, or weather observation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in meteorology preferred.
• Valid passport (minimum one year) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills
