Machinery Maintenance Mechanic – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to support a unique United States Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves ensuring the operational readiness of automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment through inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance on a range of vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical problems using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect equipment for safety concerns, mechanical deficiencies, and maintenance needs.
• Order or recommend parts and materials required for repairs.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet established standards.
• Interpret manufacturer manuals, technical specifications, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Provide technical guidance to other mechanics and review maintenance reports.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts usage.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and apply technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to safety and quality standards.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and team members.
