Fire Inspector (US Navy Program)

About the role

We are looking for a Fire Inspector to join Amentum’s US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on ensuring fire safety compliance across facilities, conducting inspections, and providing fire prevention education.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections to detect, control, and eliminate fire hazards in designated facilities and operations.
• Evaluate compliance with fire safety regulations, codes, and NFPA standards.
• Document violations and prepare corrective action recommendations.
• Review building layouts, construction plans, and fire protection systems for adherence to fire safety requirements.
• Deliver fire and life safety education as a Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, violations, and compliance findings.
• Complete the NFPA 101 Life Safety Course within two years of hire.
• Support the Fire Marshal and leadership in fire prevention programs, risk analysis, and compliance initiatives.
• Respond to emergency situations as a subject‑matter expert in fire prevention and safety.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as Fire Inspector I & II, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I, and Hazmat Awareness (to be obtained within 12 months).
• Minimum two years experience as a firefighter and two years as a fire inspector.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.
• Willingness to work onsite on Diego Garcia for the duration of the deployment.
