Equipment Operator for Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Equipment Operator to support a U.S. Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role involves operating a variety of construction and material‑handling equipment while adhering to Navy safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks and other assigned equipment.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues.
• Support site preparation, earth‑moving, material transport and facility maintenance activities.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and assist with basic equipment maintenance.
• Follow all traffic, operational safety rules and environmental compliance requirements.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience operating construction, industrial or material‑handling equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
• Valid equipment operator certifications (e.g., forklift, heavy equipment).
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing and prolonged equipment operation.
• English proficiency sufficient for contract requirements and emergency procedures.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and medical clearance.
