Engine / Generator Mechanic – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Engine / Generator Mechanic to support a critical U.S. Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. You will ensure the reliability and readiness of diesel, gasoline, and auxiliary power generator equipment in a mission‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on engines and generators.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments, and component inspections.
• Diagnose faults, assist with repairs or component replacements, and document all maintenance actions.
• Maintain tools, work areas, and adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct load testing, operational checks, and support emergency power response as required.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in engine maintenance, generator repair, or related mechanical support.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport (minimum one year beyond hire date) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and work in a remote, team‑oriented setting.
• Fluent English sufficient to read technical manuals and follow instructions.
