Drafter / CADD Operator – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Drafter/CADD Operator to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves producing high‑quality engineering and architectural drawings, managing a CAD team, and ensuring project documentation meets strict military standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical AutoCAD guidance and support for construction projects.
• Oversee, track, and assign work to CADD designers, reviewing concerns and directing design methods.
• Lead and coordinate the CAD team, schedule resources, and evaluate staff performance.
• Attend daily status, pre‑construction, and kick‑off meetings.
• Maintain equipment maintenance logs and ensure plotter readiness.
• Interpret rough engineering sketches and produce detailed working drawings across architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
• Review digital survey data, field notes, and existing maps to develop comprehensive plans.
• Mentor less‑experienced drafters and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree (A.A.S.) in computer‑aided design or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant drafting or CADD experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
• Strong ability to read and interpret design drawings and calculate geometric shapes.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large‑format plotters.
