Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Crane Operator/Rigger Foreman to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role combines hands‑on crane operation with supervision of rigging personnel, ensuring all lifting activities meet safety, operational and mission requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cranes safely in accordance with NAVFAC P‑307 and related regulations.
• Supervise, lead and direct rigging personnel during all crane and lifting operations.
• Develop, review and implement lift plans that satisfy safety and mission readiness criteria.
• Inspect rigging tools, slings, hardware and lifting devices; remove defective equipment from service.
• Evaluate load characteristics, work‑area conditions, weather and other hazards before and during lifts.
• Ensure effective communication of crane hand signals and procedures among operators, riggers and signal persons.
• Conduct routine crane inspections, coordinate maintenance and report equipment deficiencies.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating cranes in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with NAVFAC P‑307 guidelines or equivalent military/industrial lifting standards.
• Ability to supervise and train rigging teams, providing clear direction and coaching.
• Strong focus on safety, with a track record of conducting thorough hazard assessments.
• Capability to prepare and execute detailed lift plans.
