Umpire – Recreational Sports Official for US Navy Program

About the role
We are looking for an experienced umpire to officiate recreational softball and baseball games for a US Navy program located on Diego Garcia. The role involves ensuring fair play, safety, and a positive experience for participants while supporting the overall league operations.
Key responsibilities
- Officiate softball, baseball or similar recreational league games in accordance with established rules.
- Make accurate, timely calls on plays, pitches, and player actions.
- Inspect fields, equipment and player gear before games to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain game records, scorecards and incident reports.
- Communicate with players, coaches and program staff to resolve disputes or clarify rules.
- Assist with scheduling, field setup and coordination of league activities.
- Promote sportsmanship, safety and positive participation throughout events.
Required profile
- 1–3 years of experience officiating softball, baseball or similar sports.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid passport with at least one year validity beyond hire date.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work in an austere OCONUS environment.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of game rules and officiating mechanics.
- Effective conflict‑resolution techniques.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities.
