Technical Reference Librarian (USAF)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Technical Reference Librarian to support a unique USAF program on Diego Garcia. The role manages the Air Force Technical Order Distribution Office, ensuring all technical documentation is current, organized, and accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, organize, and maintain technical manuals, reference materials, digital resources, and classified/unclassified documentation for USAF operations.
• Provide research assistance and reference support to maintenance, engineering, and operational personnel.
• Maintain accurate cataloging, indexing, and inventory systems in line with Air Force and Amentum standards.
• Track, issue, and control technical publications and controlled documents, ensuring compliance with revision control and distribution requirements.
• Coordinate with USAF departments to obtain updated manuals, technical orders, bulletins, and directives.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience with the Air Force Technical Orders (T.O.) System.
• 1–3 years of experience in library services, technical documentation, records management, or administrative support.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in library science or information management preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year beyond hire date and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to meet medical, security, and deployment requirements for a remote overseas assignment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Air Force Technical Order System (General and Advanced instruction).
• Document control, cataloging, and indexing of technical publications.
• Digitization, scanning, and electronic filing of technical materials.
• Ability to manage both classified and unclassified documentation securely.
