Swimming Instructor (US Navy Program)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Swimming Instructor to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating, maintaining, and delivering swimming instruction in a large pool facility while ensuring safety and compliance with Navy standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain an 82‑ft x 63‑ft x 12‑ft swimming pool in accordance with NAVMED, NAVSUPPFAC, and CNIC instructions.
• Monitor water quality, filtration, and pool cleanliness; inspect equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Plan and conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels.
• Supervise swimmers, enforce safety guidelines, and provide lifesaving interventions as needed.
• Administer first aid, CPR, and AED during emergencies.
• Deliver excellent customer service, address patron inquiries, and assist with pool events such as competitions or training exercises.

Required profile

• Certification as a Swimming Instructor from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA) or equivalent.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications with a commitment to maintain them.
• At least 1 year of experience in swimming instruction or lifeguard services.
• Understanding of pool operations, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and remain compliant for the deployment duration.
