Material Management Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Material Management Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures procurement, inventory, distribution and tracking of materials meet operational needs efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Manage material inventory, maintain stock levels, and track usage and restocking schedules.
• Oversee procurement processes, including ordering, receiving and issuing supplies.
• Monitor storage facilities for proper handling, safety compliance and distribution.
• Verify material specifications, address quality issues, shortages or damaged goods.
• Maintain accurate documentation, records and audit trails for compliance reporting.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve delays or backorders.

Required profile

• Three years of experience in material management, procurement or inventory control.
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain facility credentials.

Required skills

• Proficiency with inventory management systems and ERP software.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain, logistics and warehousing functions.
• Experience handling hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and complying with safety protocols.
