Grounds Crew Leader – Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Grounds Crew Leader to manage a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the improved grounds, operational areas, and stormwater drainage systems on Diego Garcia for a US Navy program. The role ensures that all outdoor spaces meet strict appearance, safety, and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a grounds crew in daily maintenance of landscaped areas, operational zones, and drainage systems.
• Develop and execute schedules for mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, and watering.
• Inspect stormwater drainage systems, clear debris, and address blockages promptly.
• Respond to service orders, ensuring timely completion of all maintenance tasks.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
• Monitor ground conditions, identify enhancements or repairs, and ensure compliance with appearance standards.
• Train crew members on equipment use, safety protocols, and seasonal maintenance procedures.
• Communicate work plans, progress, and service order status to project managers and government representatives.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, service orders, equipment usage, and crew activity.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with landscaping techniques and equipment.
• Basic understanding of stormwater drainage system maintenance.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with safety standards for grounds maintenance tasks.
