Fire Protection Technician (US Navy Program)

About the role

The Fire Protection Technician will support fire prevention, safety, and protection activities for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures a safe environment for personnel and facilities by managing fire alarms, combustible materials, and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Locate and activate fire alarms in emergencies.
• Handle, store, and dispose of combustible supplies, materials, waste, and trash safely.
• Inspect storage areas and workspaces to identify and mitigate fire risks.
• Follow all safety guidelines and fire‑prevention practices to meet regulatory requirements.
• Participate in fire‑safety training and maintain knowledge of protection standards.
• Collaborate with the Fire and Emergency Services Department to address hazards.
• Report safety violations, fire risks, or faulty equipment for immediate resolution.
• Assist workplace safety initiatives to promote fire‑safety awareness.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fundamental knowledge of fire safety and prevention practices.
• Ability to identify fire safety risks and enforce best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
• Capability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain deployment compliance.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Prior experience in an austere OCONUS environment and with a multi‑national workforce (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and appropriate visa as required.
