About the role
Amentum is seeking an Emergency Vehicle Technician to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment and fire/ambulance vehicles in a remote, high‑risk environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing of fire apparatus, ARFF equipment, and ambulances.
- Maintain heavy equipment such as trucks, cranes, forklifts, loaders, dozers, and related hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using computerized test equipment.
- Rebuild engines, hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drives, and other critical components.
- Document work orders, invoices, and equipment repair records while adhering to safety and environmental policies.
Required profile
- Minimum two years of heavy‑vehicle maintenance experience in emergency or military environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
- Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas.
- Ability to work in remote, harsh conditions and comply with occupational safety standards.
Required skills
- Diesel and heavy‑automotive repair.
- Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system diagnostics.
- Use of computerized test equipment, calibration devices, and gauges.
- Reading schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of US military heavy vehicles, OSHA, ANSI, ASME, and OEM standards.
