Automotive Fabrication Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Automotive Fabrication Technician to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will work on damaged vehicles, restoring them to like‑new condition through disassembly, repair, and fabrication of structural components.

Key responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles involved in accidents.
• Fabricate body parts and brackets from aluminum and steel sheet.
• Collaborate with body and paint technicians to achieve a finished, like‑new appearance.
• Assist management in estimating damage and preparing accident quotes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in welding/fabrication, preferably in automotive or truck repair.
• Proficiency with aluminum and steel sheet and structural welding.
• Ability to operate plasma cutters and acetylene/oxygen torches.
• Limited electrical knowledge.
• Valid passport (minimum one year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and pass contract medical requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and, if required, appropriate visa.
