Airfield Manager (Diego Garcia)

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Airfield Manager to lead daily operations of the Diego Garcia airfield, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous readiness for US Navy missions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee 24/7 airfield operations, identify and correct unsafe conditions, and authorize closures when necessary.
• Advise the Government Air Operations Officer on opening/closing decisions based on personnel, equipment, and facility status.
• Enforce compliance with DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO, and other applicable standards.
• Lead construction, repair, and maintenance projects while meeting security and industry best practices.
• Manage Airfield Management Division staff and coordinate with multi‑function base operations.
• Prepare and submit documentation for personnel changes to contracting officials.
• Train airfield personnel on safety, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reassessments to maintain compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Engineering, or a related field from a U.S. or U.K. accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in overall airfield management, preferably with experience comparable to Diego Garcia operations.
• Strong knowledge of DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO regulations and airfield security standards.
• Proven ability to manage simultaneous airfield operations and oversee construction projects.
